Expectations

In the first few days the eyebrows will look much darker than they will be after fully healing, and it will take approximately 10 to 12 days to fully begin the recovery process. You will see microscopic disruptions in the skin’s surface, similar to the body’s natural healing process. It is important to take care of the area and do not pick or irritate the area. This can cause scarring and loss of color pigment. Avoid excessive exposure to the sun and avoid extra hot environments such as a sauna or sport activities. Once the area has calmed, it will look as if there is a loss in pigment. This is because after 10 days our skin forms a protective barrier which makes the pigment look lighter and blurry, this is normal. The pigment takes approximately 4 weeks to appear again. This is completely normal depending on how you took care of the area during the aftercare process. The loss of color pigment can be anywhere from 30 to 70%, meaning that you should expect to lose a few strokes during the healing process. The best-case scenario and is completely based on how YOUR skin responds is a retention of 80% of the color and strokes…and to be clear, that is the best-case scenario. On average, expect about 40% loss of pigment.

**One note to acknowledge is that oily skin, or sometimes even combo T-zone skin, has a much greater chance of pigment rejection/loss of pigment & strokes, and the pigment WILL fade faster, therefore Blade & Shade or Ombre is recommended for better results.

Before Care

  • Do not have a tanned or sunburnt face
  • Do not take medications such as aspirin, niacin, vitamin E, or ibuprofen 24 hours before the procedure
  • No alcohol or caffeine on the day of the procedure
  • Please note that you will be more sensitive during your menstrual cycle
  • No blood thinners three days prior to procedure

After Care

  • Avoid water contact as much as possible
  • Some water contact is OK but be sure to pat dry
  • You will need to lightly clean using a Q-tip and mild soap, two to three times daily, with light pressure and circular movement
  • Pat dry and apply a “rice-sized” amount of the aftercare gel that has been placed in your after-care bag for 3-6 days.
  • Do not use any other product for healing other than the approved & provided gel

Avoid wearing makeup as the area heels. Do not pick at the area. Avoid swimming, saunas, steam or anything that will cause excessive sweating for at least seven to eight days after the procedure. Avoid direct sun for three to four weeks after procedure. Avoid any facial or skin appointments including cosmetic procedures for a month after microblading procedure.

CAN I EXERCISE AFTER GETTING MICROBLADING?

You must avoid working out for 7 days following your microblading appointment. Light exercising is allowed (minimal sweating), but you must clean the tattooed area with lukewarm water as soon as you are done exercising. The salt in sweat will fade the pigment very quickly and give poor results.

Note: the eyebrows will appear darker and bolder around the first 10 days. This is very common for all permanent cosmetic procedures. It is normal during the recovery process for the pigment to lighten up.

  • Do not rub, pick, or scratch at the area
  • Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 3-4weeks after
  • Avoid heavy sweating for the first 7 days after
  • No facials, Botox, chemical treatments and or microdermabrasion for at least 4 weeks

Immediately after the procedure, the area will look much darker and much more defined than the final results. Be prepared for the color to be significantly lighter and the overall appearance much softer and more natural after the healing occurs. It will take time for this transition, completely based on how quickly the outer layer of YOUR skin exfoliates.

Usually, the exfoliation process occurs for about 5 days and will be complete at about 7 to 10 days. At that point the contrast between the initial intense, dark color and the new softer, lighter color will become apparent. This is normal and expected. The 2nd appointment at 60-90 days, will be the perfecting session, which is included in the cost of the initial appointment.

At the follow/touch up appointment, the color can be SLIGHTLY adjusted. The minor touch ups such as symmetry will be done at this follow up appointment. It is likely that you will need a touch up one year after, when the eyebrows begin to fade out. You may simply need to add layering at the 12-month mark.
